City Wide Effort!

This past week has been a blur of events for me.  I did a mini-seminar at Cal Farley’s training center for the ISAIAH CHALLENGE.  The meeting was for those who are involved in providing community needs.  (Pastors, AISD members, United-Way, etc).  This meeting led to much dialogue among the different organization leaders.  The premise of the Isaiah Challenge is that it has no limits in who it can help or how it can help.  If your heart is for children in Uganda then your organization might provide and Isaiah fund for orphanages;  if your heart is for victims of child abuse then your organization might provide a mentoring program for neighborhood children.  The premise of the Challenge is to lay down your own comforts and needs in order to help others who are held under a “heavy yoke”.

Isaiah 58:6- Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of injustice, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover them, and not to hide yourself from your own kin? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly; your vindicator shall go before you, the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

How can your business, church, school, etc help loose the heavy burdens that others carry?

How can you do this, while reaching your own personal goals?

How can one community make a dent in the suffering of our world?

All of those questions are answered in the Isaiah Challenge. We will not only be tackling the hard issues that plague or society, but our own personal bondages as well.  Financial issues, weight-issues, stress issues, etc.
We are in process of creating a city wide kick off for the Challenge.  Both Canyon and Amarillo Texas will be involved.  If you’re a small business owner, pastor, teacher, city-leader; etc, this event will be for you!  Please keep your radar up for more details.  Choose your hearts cry and dare to make a difference!
